Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) Indonesia, a non-profit organization which is active on HIV/AIDS sector, in cooperation with Subdit AIDS – MoH, is opening a vacancy in Jakarta for the post of :

Sr. IMPLEMENTATION RESEARCH and REPORT WRITING OFFICER

Background

In support of health systems capacity building and rapid scale-up in the delivery of HIV-related services in Tanah Papua, Project REACH will undertake a focused program of Implementation Research (IR). The IR agenda will be wide ranging and entail a number of different types of studies, and will be directed to informing improved policies and implementation processes related to HIV care, support and treatment (CST).

Role, Responsibilities and Tasks:

Collaborate and work closely with the Project REACH Senior IR Consultant and other relevant IR team members to provide effective management of the CHAI/Project REACH IR Program.

Serve as the primary CHAI administrative contact point for both CHAI staff and for university-based research teams undertaking IR studies in collaboration with CHAI/Project REACH.

Take the lead role in facilitating the clearance of studies through PANLI and IRB reviews.

Serve as the primary IR contact for Deputy Program Managers and IR Field Coordinators in Tanah Papua.

Take lead role in Tanah Papua-based CHAI staff in acquiring supporting letters from provincial authorities as needed.

Facilitate introductions of university research partners to key stakeholders in Tanah Papua working through Tanah Papua-based CHAI staff.

Participate in the socialization and launches of studies.

Monitor research implementation by university partners and intervene as necessary in resolving operational issues that arise during the course of implementation.

Participate in IR technical activities as requested by the Senior IR Consultant and IR manager.

Provide updates on IR activities to senior CHAI management as needed for periodic reports to donors and other stakeholders.

Take corrective action as needed for IR proposal, protocols, and other instruments development process, as well as coordination IR-related activities including meetings, workshops, trainings, and research activities with REACH program staff, MoH, PHO, Universities, and other stakeholders. .

Work closely with M&E team and the CHAI Senior Management Team to develop all REACH program related reports (mainly AusAID semester report) before the relevant deadlines.

Expected Outcomes and Performance Indicators:

REACH program related reports developed and submitted on time

IR studieprotocols reviewedsuccessfully navigated through necessary reviews and approvals

Studies delayed due to administrative problems/issues

Maintains effective working relationships with CHAI staff, university partners and key government partners in Tanah Papua (Scale 1-10)

Maintains and disseminates accurate and up-to-date status information on all IR studies

IR meetings arranged and coordinated with relevant research partners (Universities, Government Partners, CHAI staff, etc)

Travels to Tanah Papua for coordination meetings, monitoring research implementation and other supports

Qualifications and Experience

The following qualifications are sought in applicants for this position:

At least 3-4 years of experience in carrying out public health research studies in Indonesia (experience with both bio-medical and social science research is a plus)

Experience in working with Government of Indonesia ministries, commissions, local governments, and/or health service facilities.

Experience working in Tanah Papua

Strong writing, communication and inter-personal skills

Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia
